I have the new version of Itunes (7.0) and I absolutely love the cover art feature. It is quite awesome to have a use for those cover arts, and even not have to go look for them on Amazon or DeseretBook depending on where and what they are. I have come to the conclusion that I should stick with MP3 and up till recently I thought very highly of Variable Bit Rate (VBR) encoding on Maximum Quality. But now I am not so sure. I have reencoded some music in a flat rate of 192 kbps (listed as high quality in itunes) and I have actually noted a difference. Not only in file size (a tad smaller it would appear) but better overall quality. This leads me to believe that the software that determines what parts of a song need the most bits (what VBR does) doesn't work quite as well as it should. Does anybody think differently?

You know, I've been too lazy to download the newer version.
I would totally agree with you there.
