Advent Children (SPOILER ALERT)

The following contains massive spoilers from Advent Children. You have been warned! If you don't wish to continue, click Back now!

The opening theme starts as Marlene gives the viewer, who may not have played the game, some insight about Shinra, Sephiroth, Aeris, the lifestream, Midgar. And mixes of both images taken from the FMVs of the game and newer images from the movie are shown.

Sephiroth is shown in the flames, like in the game.

"Sephiroth came to hate ShinRa, then hated everyone."

Other images were shown, mostly from Midgar. I was so mesmerized by the images that the text was the last of my priority. No time for it. (sorry if its not reported back as accurately)

The camera zoomed in Midgar. We see people around a central monument, we continue getting closer as we see kids, sitting on the ground.

"But the planet is a lot madder than we thought..."

At the end of an alleyway, a child, who was sitting on the ground, falls on his side, lifeless.

The scene immediately changes for a towel that falls down on a matress. We are in a room, with a sick child in bed, Denzel, and a young tearful child sitting beside him, Marlene.

The phone rings and we are brought in another part of the house, were Tifa is at a bar, cleaning.

"He's not here anymore..."

She walks upstairs, the phone still ringing and passes beside Denzel's room. He ask Marlene where is Cloud.

Tifa answers the call and the scene changes to Cloud, on his bike, picking his messages on the phone. Tifa informs him of the call received from Reno who wants to see him at Healin.

"Message received at..."

Cloud closes the phone, grasps his left arm, seeming to be in pain, then puts his goggles on and turns the engines on. But as soon as he presses the pedal, he is struck with a quick flash, a vision, that lasted mere seconds. The flash done, he starts the engines and drives away.

The music changes to something never heard in the game, and Cloud is seen, riding in an almost desertic area. The 3 Silver haired men (SHM) are parked on a small hill nearby. All 3 seating on motorcycles as well. Loz and Yazoo leave and chase Cloud while attacking him, asking him about "Mother". Kadaj is left behind, on the phone, talking about being betrayed.

Tifa's message is heard again and Cloud is seen passing in front of a direction panel, going up toward the Healin lodge.

The Wheelchair person (WCP) is seen, covered in a white sheet, talking with Cloud, while Rude stands beside him, at his right. He tells Cloud about Kadaj and the group's intention. He requests for help but Cloud refuses. Saying he is no longer what he was. The WCP ask him about the orphans Cloud was living with, about seeing them happy again, Cloud turns around and asks for more info about this, "crap". (Yes, he said "crap")

The music/scene changes and we are brought inside the church where Tifa and a very happy Marlene are walking. Marlene trots toward the flower bed and kneels near if. Her face is definitly lovely alongside all the yellow flowers.

Marlene : "Cloud lives here?"

Tifa : "It seems like it"

Tifa walks around and see a bandage left on the floor. Marlene comes in closer and picks it up, telling Tifa this looks like Denzel's bandages and asking if Cloud is sick too.

Tifa : "So this is why you left"

She keeps on talking out loud about Cloud's intention to fight alone and the scene changes again.

We are back with the WCP. Kadaj is with him and Reno and Rude are laying on the ground in pain. Both men are talking, Kadaj being lied to and "Mother" and the WCP about something going wrong but being honest this time.

The scene changes again and we see Loz in the church, approaching Tifa and Marlene.

Loz : "Where is mother?"

Tifa: "There is no one here!"

Loz : "Then, let's play"

Once again, the scene changes back to the WCP and Kadaj. Kadaj has his back turned to the WCP and when he faces him again, there is a zoom in on his eye which resemble snakes.

We are taken back inside the church where Tifa fights Loz and after a few hits he grabs her, spins her around, and throws her on a wall. Tifa lifts her head and stares at him in slow motion.

We are again brought into the room with the WCP and Kadaj (are you dizzy? I sure was), with the Turks still on the ground. Kadaj tells to the WCP, with a tone of amusement, about his sickness (the WCP's one) and a shot of the WCP's right hand is seen. It is covered with grey blueish stains, physical marks of Geostigma.

The scene goes back to the church, where Loz is menacingly approaching Marlene. The small girl looks up and calls out for Cloud.

Tifa: "Run!!!"

Denzel's head jerks up, with a gasp. He is in town, on the sidewalk. An older girl, also with Geostigma marks and holding a moogle doll , is in front of him.

Girl: "You got it too? Come, they said they'll heal us."

She grabs the boy by the arm and pulls him away.

Cloud is seen, slowly walking in the church, going toward the flower bed. He stops, looks around and sees Tifa, laying unconscious in the flowers. He runs to her, lifts her while calling her name. She slowly awakes, obviously in pain.

The scene changes and we see Cloud, on the Fenrir (his motorcycle), riding in the Ancient Forest. He remembers when Tifa awoke after bringing her back home. Both of them are seen talking and after a moment, Tifa tells Cloud to turn around. Cloud doesn't seem to understand so she repeats it. Cloud still doesn't seem to react and a voice is heard from behind. Cloud turns around and sees Reno and Rude, standing on each side of a door. Tifa asks them if they found the children and Reno tells them about an informer.

Cloud is then on his motorcycle, in the present, and going where the informer told them about.

The scene changes to the SHM and the kids, near Aeris's burial place (maybe? it seems like there). Marlene is being held by Loz and Kadaj is talking to the kids, telling them he has the power to heal them and after being healed, they can all strike the Planet back for wanting to kill them. Energy emanates from his body until it completly surrounds him.

Cloud is, once again, seen on his motorcycle, in the ancient forest and a few seconds later, he is sent in an area, completely white. He stands up and the camera slowly moves around him as you see a pink ribbon peak from aside his head, It's Aeris. The camera turns around both of their feet, as they stand in yellow flowers.

Her voice is soft, yet sounds happy. The view is taken from further away and both are standing back to back. She talks to Cloud, asking him a question, touching his arm. Cloud answers her and she seems amused with it.

Cloud is then brought back to reality, where the SHM are standing in his path, Yazoo and Loz shooting at him. Cloud picks up a sword from the lot he has on his bike and speeds up toward them.
Kadaj walks in the middle of the path, making signals over his head with his right hand. Kids jump down from the trees, blocking the path of Fenrir.

Cloud sees them and in front is Denzel, with the same snake eyes as Kadaj, and Marlene is by his side, probably trying to make him get back to his senses. Cloud brakes and quickly turns around to avoid hitting them and falls off his bike. Kadaj approaches him and the kids form a circle around both of them. Cloud tries to get back up, but can't.

Kadaj talks to him and the kids, about him being their brother and a traitor. He takes his sword and lowers it in front of Cloud's face. Cloud is still not moving.

Kadaj lifts his sword, getting ready to strike and before he can, a deep red cape jumps in and takes Cloud before moving around at an incredible pace, as Yazoo shoots 3 times at it. The red cape then dissapears as fast as it appeared, unharmed.

(Note: You do not see anything but the cape moving around in those scenes. It's been compared to "spawn" like movements )

You then see Cloud sitting down, while Vincent is at his left. Cloud asks him about what is going on and in a loud bang and quick scene movement (I cannot quite explain this part good). Vincent is sitting by Cloud's side. Vincent explains what he knows about Geostigma, about what the SHM are planning to do if they find Jenova's head, the possibility of seeing another Sephiroth appear. While talking, Vincent gets up and walks around.

After a moment, both men jerk around, ready to attack, as noise is heard behind them. Someone running appears. It's Marlene. She runs to Cloud, asking for Denzel and Tifa. Cloud looks at Vincent and asks him to take her back but he refuses. Marlene backs away from Cloud, scolds him and runs to Vincent, who lifts his cape to hide her underneath it. Leaving nothing but her feet appear. Cloud talks to her but she doesn't want to understand, she continues to scold him and her voice changes to the one of Tifa, as we are brought into another scene, with her in it. She is talking to Cloud.

When back in the present, Cloud asks Vincent if a sin can be forgiven.

Vincent: "I never tried."

Cloud tells him that if he ever finds the answer, he will let him know. He then calls out for Marlene, who peaks her head out of the cape, delighted, and runs toward him. Both leave hand in hand as the voice of Aeris is heard again.

Now a very popular song from FF7 starts: One Winged angel. We are taken to Midgar where all hell breaks loose. Creatures have appeared and children stand around the central monument, like if in a trance. People are running and screaming while being attacked by the Shadowcreepers. In the chaos, Tifa notices Denzel is one of the children who are standing. She runs to him, calling his name. Once close enough we are shown his eye which is slowly changing into snake like eyes again, with a strange greenish glow.

The scene changes to Kadaj and the WCP, who are standing in a torn apart building. Kadaj is looking down at what is going on, then looks at his left arm. Something is glowing on it. He turns around and faces the WCP and with a defiant smile, his arm is surrounded with magic which is sent into the sky.

Cloud spins around for a moment, like if a tornado was about to happen, and from it is formed Bahamut, coming down to attack. Two people stop to watch as Bahamut descends. One is taken out by a Shadowcreeper while the other one by the dragon.

The scene goes to Yazoo, who is on his motorcycle, on the highway in Midgar, turning it around to shoot toward Cloud who fights him back. Loz appears and joins Yazoo in the battle.

Then we are once again looking back to Bahamut, as Denzel slowly approaches it. Bahamut dives toward him. Denzel knows he can no longer run. A mechanical hand grabs him by the shoulder and pushes him aside, while it's transforming into a multi-barrel gatling gun. It's Barret! He shoots toward the summon then turns around, asking about Marlene, then dashes toward the dragon, quickly doubled by Nanaki (Red XIII) who jumps very high in the air and takes a bite out of the dragon.

A few seconds later, a shuriken is seen flying and hitting Bahamut as someone parachutes down. The person lands, catches the weapon which comes back like a boomerang and turns around. It's Yuffie, as lively as ever, asking who messed with her materia.

Cid, with a growl, swings his spear around to take away two Shadowcreepers who were diving in for Denzel and Tifa who was protecting Denzel.

Vincent walks by, determined, passing beside Tifa and Denzel, who asks her who is everyone.

Tifa: "They are our friends!"

Kadaj is once again seen, in the building, as he screams and send another magical blast with his hand.

We are then shown Reno and Rude who are on the ground, side by side, with Yazoo and Loz behind them. Reno turns to Rude.

Yazoo: "Aren't we all having fun?"

Reno: "Best day of my life!"

On this last word, both men quickly get up, turning around to attack.

The scene changes to Cloud, Loz and Yazoo on their bikes, fighting in a tunnel. After a moment, Loz punches the ground and sends his motorcycle flying. In a lovely slow motion mode, Yazoo ducks it, laying on his bike, leaving Cloud with nowhere to run. Cloud jumps off his bike and with his sword, cuts right through the flying motorcycle, clean cutting it in two.

The scene goes to Kadaj, who enters the church on his bike, holding a metal box that has been damaged by something sharp. He looks at it, relieved, while saying "Ah.. mother.." but his face changes as he seems to see something is wrong and he breaks down, holding the box to his chest, rocking back and forth. He sounds like he is crying, while repeating "mother.. oh mother".

Scene change again and we see Zack in the back of a pickup truck.

Zack: "We are friends right?"

Then we see him run while shouting for Cloud to watch out, while drawing his sword.

Cloud is then seen, alone in the church, his sleeve on this left arm is gone, and like Cid, Tifa, Yuffie and Nanaki, he wears a reddish/pink ribbon on his arm.

A drip of water is seen, falling in a lake (?) and the voice of Aeris is heard again.

"Let's go Cloud"

Bahamut descends and we see Cloud flying to it, sword drawn. Tifa appears inside something surrounded with windows, talking, and the scene goes back and forth to Cloud and Bahamut. Cloud is in a blue aura and the dragon is about to "fire" at him.

We see Kadaj, screaming again, in the church.

And we are taken back to Cloud who is seen near a collapsing building. Debris are falling everywhere and while he falls down with it, he pokes his sword in the building and flips to stand on it. He splits the sword in two then, after the other sword is also in the wall, he holds on to both while a voice, unknown till now, is heard. And at long last, the infamous Sephiroth makes his way through, towards Cloud, with his sword in hand.

"I.. won?t be just a memory..."

This ending the presentation with the logo of Advent Children appears.
