Tales of Earthsea and R1 releases in March

Looks like we will be getting My neighbor Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle and Whisper of the Heart in March of next year.  They also have a listing for Ghibli's new movie called Tales of Earthsea, I've attached the poster.

Re: Tales of Earthsea and R1 releases in March

Earthsea?  Why does that sound familiar?  Sounds like a book series.

*does a quick Amazon.com search*

Wow.  There's even a book that bears the exact same name.  Tales from Earthsea.  Seems to be part of a series of books.  Roughly six books in that series.  They picked the 5th book for the movie, it seems.  Odd.

Edit:  Oh, and I am definately interested.  All it takes is a cool looking dragon,  and the fantasy elements that entails, to spark my interest.  All it would take for me to lose interest is bad content.  Thank goodness this isn't by Disney.  tongue

Re: Tales of Earthsea and R1 releases in March

Here's a weird tidbit, Jeremy.  Seems the page lists a different director then you thought... but, it's not the "other guy" either.  Just one question.  Who is "Goro Miyazaki"?

http://nausicaa.net/miyazaki/earthsea/

Is it Hayao's son?  Grandson?  Long lost nephew twenty times removed?

Oh, and in regards to the books, there's an interesting setup.  Supposedly, the movie will be heavily based on a book in the Earthsea series called The Farthest Shore (volume 3), yet bears the name of Tales from Earthsea (volume 5).  Weird.  I looked up the description for Farthest Shore.  It was short, but they mentioned something about Ged and a dragonlord.  Finally, it seems something is starting to coincide with the poster.  tongue
