Jeremy...and to anyone else who might know.....DIGITAL CAMER

As you know I am searching for a digital camera.....I DON"T KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR!!!

I basically want a camera:
-with brand: sony, casio, or canon
-battery:  what is good of the choices?  I would think AA because they are cheap and universal....
-...megapixels...what is good amount for it?  I was thinking 2 or more.(This is for future posterity after all.)
-small and compact (all sides can be grasped with your hand)
-simple features, not too many bells and whistles which would be distracting.
-preferably under $100....might go $200...-_- but as you said, "Don't take anything that you don't want to lose."
-needs memory card capabilites (OBVIOUSLY)
-WHAT ELSE?????  is there anything else that is important that I should be looking for?????

please answer, thanks,
mike

I don't want to litter this with too much posts on my mission, but I am going to Oregon. My mission is the Eugene Oregon mission, even though part of my mission includes a bit of the top of California and the corner of Nevada...I get two whole cities in Nevada.

I tell people that it is a great place to go.  I don't have to learn another language and the weather and scernery is pretty ther, at least what I've heard.  I have often told people, "well i guess those people in Oregon need saving to."

the farthest west I have been is Nevada las vegas...so I have never seen the cost...and the las vegas was driving stright down the highway to st. george utah and then on to las vegas.  That is it.  So I imagine it will be a wholelot greener than nevada was.

Los Vegas is...ugly.  Oregon...Now, that's a pretty state. Lots of trees but it's cold there. ^_^

I must agree there is not much in Lost Wages... I mean las vegas.  But I am not looking forward to the constant rain and the coldish temperatures...but I will deal with them ^_^  Missouri didn't get nick-named Missery for nothing! Just ask Jeremy.

Lol!  Yeah, even for decent non-gambling folk, those buffet places can be pricey... of course *I* didn't have to pay anything, because I was on choir tour when we took a pit stop in Las Vegas.  We were on our way to California... AND I WAS ABLE TO GO TO DISNEYLAND FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!!!!!  Twas fun.  And I had no allergies, for once (apparently all the bad allergy causing plants must be here in Utah County! -_- ).

When asked about his opinion of the PS3's competing systems, 360 and Wii, Sony's SCE president, Ken Kutaragi, says:  "We don't care."
Translation:  "We're going to get 0wned this gen."

Re: Jeremy...and to anyone else who might know.....DIGITAL CAMER

Ok, just a couple of hints, and if you want more, get me to call you wink

Casio is a good brand, I would recommend looking into them.  While Canon has good cameras, I would not recommend them at all, if you are going to look for cameras (according to reviews) you should look for casio if you want options, and sony if you want simplicity and proprietary stuff (memory stick) which can be a little more expensive.

Batteries, DO NOT GET ONE WITH TRIPLE OR DOUBLE AAs!  I can't stress that enough, they just don't preform and the batteries suck in more ways than one.  When you get your camera, buy several of the battery that it uses and if you need more (which you most definitely WON'T) you could always mail me about it.  You will find that the life and durability of a camera with special batteries is superior in EVERY way.

I might have more, but if you have anything specific, call me.  Oh, and definitely get it at NEWEGG, they have reviews on every one of their models (usually) and they are very insightful for your research.

That is nice, but
-ALL CASIO'S are over $2-$300
-Most camera without AA or AAA(whjch would be proprietary batteries) are over $2-$300
-Newegg has a VERY small selection of cameras....NOTHING was in my price range for Casio and sony's selection was small for my price range. -_-  sigh...
-finally Newegg has only a 30 day warrenty.

So your answer does help me get bearing, but still not sure which direction to turn.  I don't want to spend too much, just in case I lose it or it is stolen or it might tempt someone to steal it, but I don't want it to fall apart or die on me half-way through my mission....

and as I had said, I want simple features, so that I won't get distracted on my mission.  Seems that Sony is looking to be the best choice.

Personally it is not like I will be USING IT EVERY DAY.  I plan to use it AT MOST ONCE a week.  So it is not going to be HAMMERED and slamed into TOTAL USAGE!!!!   sigh.... that is like 100 uses for two years. o_0

Then I would definitely recommend that you look in to sony's cameras.  They are extremely simple and are really robust cameras, perhaps even a little more than casio's.  If at all possible, look for one that doesn't take normal batteries, but if not, then do as you will.  Remember these are only suggestions wink
