I've known about this project since Feburary (via a Gamespot news article). It's a group re-creating Ultima 5; which will run using Dungeon Siege (basically a "mod"). So far they have caught my interest. Some of the people working on this project have done music and 2D art that seems to match, or even rival, that of other game developers (the 2D art is only shown in the alpha demo, which can only run with Dungeon Siege installed on your computer). In fact, here's a link to some of that music (http://www.planetdungeonsiege.com/ultim … emixes.asp I highly recommend listening to "stones" and "truth"). They've also done some text (again, only in the alpha demo) that's extremely good, albiet extremely lengthy.
This is legal... at the moment. For some reason they have had a hard time contacting Origin Systems (makers of the Ultima games). Can't say I'm surprised either. Origin has reorganized enough to make your head spin. They're the last of the "big 3" RPG developers (Sir-Tech disbanded, and New World Computing sank when 3DO went bankrupt), and as far as I can tell they haven't released many decent games recently.
If you wish to look around the site, feel free (link below). It's relatively clean, perhaps with the exception of the forums, but even that's not bad by forum standards. Can't say I'm a fan of the rather dark page backgrounds, but at least it's not blinding white.
(P.S. For any who install the alpha demo, keep in mind there's no real gameplay in it. Alpha demos, in this case, are mostly about testing out performance and visual aspects, as well as coding).
Edit: BTW, they do have a bit to work on in the coding department. Aparently they inverted the in-game portrait displays. No doubt that bug got reported right from the start. ![]()
When asked about his opinion of the PS3's competing systems, 360 and Wii, Sony's SCE president, Ken Kutaragi, says: "We don't care."
Translation: "We're going to get 0wned this gen."
